You approve the work in stages and receive the final files listed in your agreement.

Usually, yes, but the cost depends on the change. Hair colour, clothing detail or a small eye-line adjustment can be straightforward when the work is layered. A new pose, age change or different light direction affects shadows, reflected colour and edges across the scene, so it may require substantial repainting.

Digital painting is built in layers on a raster canvas, which makes it well suited to controlled light, atmosphere, texture and detailed scenes. It can support fantasy, historical fiction, children's books, dramatic interiors and cover art that needs a cinematic finish. Some books benefit more from line art, watercolor or a simpler graphic style, so the style choice should come from the manuscript rather than trend alone.

Where the illustrator can supply them, yes, and your scope will state that clearly. Flattened high-resolution files are always included. Some Procreate brushes, Photoshop textures, fonts or photographic elements may be licensed to the illustrator and cannot be transferred, so we confirm those limits before work begins.

Digital painting is pixel based. It can be reduced cleanly, but enlarging it later softens edges and detail. If a file is built only for an ebook and you later need a paperback wraparound, the original canvas may be too small. We therefore set the master canvas for the largest planned use and create smaller versions from it.

A single digital painting book cover may take a few weeks, while a set of detailed interior scenes can run for several months. The schedule depends on the number of paintings, canvas size, complexity and review rounds, and it is confirmed once the brief is agreed.

Yes. Procreate and Adobe Photoshop can reproduce many of the visual qualities of oil, gouache, pastel and textured board, especially when the brushwork stays visible. The same tools can also produce a cleaner concept art style or polished commercial render. We choose that direction before detailed work begins because it changes how the whole piece is built.

Yes. The illustrator builds reference material for recurring characters, settings and important objects, then works from the same proportions, palette and lighting rules across the project. Base layers can also be reused where appropriate, which helps the illustration stay consistent from one scene to the next.

We can discuss broad qualities such as loose painterly brushwork, tight concept art rendering, warm natural light or graphic contrast. We do not copy the distinctive style of a living artist or reproduce protected artwork. The final visual direction is developed for your book.

No. A digital painting is created in RGB on a lit display, while printing uses a smaller ink gamut. Very saturated colours and deep shadows can shift. We convert the artwork, check those areas and make sensible adjustments before delivery so the print version stays as close as the process allows.

The drawing, colour and final-render review rounds are listed separately in your written scope. Ask for structural changes early. Layers make late edits possible, but changing the composition or lighting after a high-detail digital render is complete can still mean repainting a large part of the image.
